Washington, DC— Countless gun violence survivors and families of victims marched on Capitol Hill today to kick off the now second annual “Moms Take the Hill” and Mother’s Day “Week of Action” events, and already pro-gun activists have begun claiming that their rights are being violated.
This latest complaint came from apparent NRA members in Washington DC, who began to gather at the Washington Memorial in order to stage their own march on the U.S. Capitol Building but were curtailed by local law enforcement, forced to disband, and, in some cases, were arrested due to the particularly large group, most of whom were carrying firearms.
“This is what this country has become. A bunch of Commie bastards taking away an American’s right to assemble for the common good as well as our Second Amendment rights,” stated gun enthusiast Marvin Walker as he was stripped of his fully-loaded AR-15 and ushered towards a police paddy wagon. “Attica! Attica!”
The group had marched about 30 feet in a military line form with handgun uses at the front and rifle enthusiasts at the rear before they were turned back by officers of the Metropolitan Police Department.
“What did I do? What did I do?” yelled local gun-nut Sidney Hollendorf as he was stripped of three handguns and two hunting rifles, all of which he had legal permits for. “What, the Constitution is no good in the Capitol?”
The hastily assembled group consisted of approximately 300 people and 500 fire-arms of miscellaneous size and legality. Local police officers explained that the issue was not with the gathering of the group, but the manner in which they were gathered.
“Washington is heart of the U.S. government, and the sign of a healthy government and healthy population is debate,” stated MPD officer James Harden. “But they need to exhibit some sense. When a protest group gathers like a small army a quarter mile from Congress, there is going to be an issue.”
