Washington DC: When one thinks of the recently passed Nelson Mandela, ideas of him as a champion against racial segregation in South Africa, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, a forward thinker in the unity of people of all colors, and an all-around great guy are plentiful and ring true throughout the globe.
Apparently, Mandela’s redeeming qualities also ring true for members of the United States Congress in their struggle against Obamacare, according to former Pennsylvania senator/former presidential candidate/current ass-hat Rick Santorum.
In a segment on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor,” Santorum spoke highly of the mourned leader of peace, Mandela, then proceeded to rip apart that praise by comparing Mandela to the mostly crusty white men that make up the United States Congress.
“Nelson Mandela stood up against a great injustice and was willing to pay a huge price for that, and that’s the reason he is mourned today, because of that struggle that he performed,” Santorum stated. “And I would make the argument that we have a great injustice going on right now in this country with an ever increasing size of government that is taking over and controlling people’s lives, and Obamacare is front and center in that.”
With Santorum having the potential to campaign for the presidency again in 2016, some believed the speech could have impeded Santorum in the polls. Then it was remembered that those who watch “The O’Reilly Factor” probably didn’t care much for Nelson Mandela to begin with.
