Athens, GA: Police are investigating after a Georgia woman scared off a would-be burglar by acting like a dog. No, this isn’t a joke. The Athens Banner-Herald reported Monday that the woman scared off the suspect around 11 p.m. Saturday. According to police, the woman got on the floor and began scr
atching at the door and acting like a large dog when the suspicious man tried turning the woman’s door knob.
The woman, whose name was not released, has, according to neighbors, been practicing this trick for years.
“She used to chase me down the street when I was riding my bike,” said ten-year-old Bobby Montgomery. “She got real close to biting me at least once.”
“Yeah, I remember that,” said his father, James Montgomery. “Then there was that time she done come over and crapped right on our lawn. She don’t think I know it was her, but I done saw her.”
The woman, who is obviously single, denied these claims, though she did admit to eating food from a bowl on the floor and sleeping at the foot of the bed.
“Ain’t nothing wrong with me!” she reportedly told the police, who were forced to mace her when she became too aggressive and attempted to bite an officer.
The woman said the man, who appeared to be homeless, quickly ran from the porch. She offered to use her nose to follow the would-be burglar, but quickly lost track of him after coming across and consuming a sizable pile of cat feces.
Police also searched the neighborhood for him, but were unsuccessful.
