Rob was born in Essex, not too far from London in the UK, in the mid 1960’s. He made an early impression on his school teachers, managing to get himself excluded from class in his very first academic year (aged four & a half), for apparently knowing more than the Teachers, & refusing to shut up. Sent to work in the School library for most of that year, Rob developed an affinity for skipping classes & hiding behind shelving…Oh yeah, the books were pretty cool too.

This trend followed Rob throughout his schooling, spending almost as much time outside the classroom as he did inside, disrupting everything not through malice, but sheer boredom with the whole setup. That, and the inability to shut up.

How Rob then came to be a College Teacher many years later is still a mystery, especially with his lack of formal qualifications or training, but he did. It was fun.

Spending other working years variously as a Freelance Troubleshooter, Accountant, Company Director, Driver, Pirate Radio DJ, Electrician, Guitar Teacher, Voiceover Artist, Budding Actor, Stand-up Comedian, and Gas Station Attendant, Rob is now on the payroll of the British Government, who are funding his solo mental health project, currently in its sixth year & still going strong.

Rob’s main passion is music, a guitarist by trade, but a multi instrumentalist & singer by necessity, his musical outpourings are ruled by the self imposed law of ‘No Fixed Style’, but Blues, Jazz, Funk, Roots, Electronica, & General Space-Travel all go into the mix – Consequently some very diverse gigs, from a  10,000 strong festival crowd, to playing incidental music for a night of Icelandic Poetry in front of about 6 people, it’s all music as far as Rob cares, & thats the end of it! Just don’t ask him to play ‘Hotel California’…(that’s another story).

Now in his new role as The Inept Owl’s International Correspondent, (not bad for an Agoraphobic with Socialphobia), Rob brings his cynicism, & all the baggage that goes with being British in the 21st Century with him. A hater of all kinds of bullshit and the self important, his love of politics is based more on the comedy of it all, rather than the issues.

Robs quote of the day is “If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, then the pills are working. What are they and can I have some?”
