San Franciso, CA – Today, a television advertised on the popular classified ads website Craigslist was found to be in the exact condition advertised.
The item in question was listed as “27 inch Sony LCD flat-screen television in good shape, $300” in the electronics section of the San Francisco page. Frequent Craigslist user Adam Henkle called the number listed, fully expecting to have the item not live up to expectations.
“It was weird,” said Henkle. “The guy told me to stop by his house around noon, and he was actually there… and he hadn’t sold the television to somebody else while I was driving over!”
When Henkle arrived, the seller ushered him in and showed him the TV. As it turns out, the television was actually functional when plugged in, without any shadows, static, blur, or poltergeists.
Henkle said, “I looked everywhere. There were no scratches, dents, or broken parts. The buttons worked. It wasn’t a flat-screen tube television. It was an actual Sony, rather than some off-brand with a Sony label pasted in the corner. I even measured the screen, and it was 27 inches!”
The seller accepted a personal check for payment, in the pre-agreed upon amount of $300. He even went so far as to offer Henkle a refund if the television didn’t work when he got it home.
Henkle is enjoying his new television, but feels a little odd about the whole thing. “I honestly didn’t know how to react,” admitted Henkle. “I felt like I was actually taking advantage of the guy.”
Further research by The Inept Owl revealed that the seller, Michael Kilbourne, was a first-time user on Craigslist. When contacted by The Owl, Mr. Kilbourne said, “I had no idea how things worked there. Had I known I was so far off-base, I would have cracked the screen or something before putting it up for sale.”
As a result of this gross act of honesty, all of Mr. Kilbourne’s other ads have been flagged for removal and replaced with “casual encounter” ads featuring a big-breasted nympho in search of a threesome.
