Palo Alto, CA: With the recent launch of a new format for Facebook, users are up in arms. Since the surprise unveiling, a little over 450 million users have been voicing their displeasure by cluttering up newsfeeds across the social networking site with posts about how horrible the newsfeed clutter is.

Such vulnerable users have also re-started the “Facebook Charges” hoax, spreading the following rumor:

FACEBOOK JUST RELEASED THEIR PRICE GRID FOR MEMBERSHIP. $9.99 PER MONTH FOR GOLD MEMBER SERVICES, $6.99 PER MONTH FOR SILVER MEMBER SERVICES, $3.99 PER MONTH FOR BRONZE MEMBER SERVICES, $19,999.99 FOR THE MARK ZUCKERBERG PIMP=CHAIR SPECIAL! OMGDZOGGLEOGGLEBLIPBLOOP!

While most of these rumor hoaxes have been shut down thanks to actual news reports, Snopes.com , and basic common sense, there are others that still believe the day of Facebook charges is coming. Due to this unwavering belief, Facebook co-creator and CEO Mark Zuckerberg released a statement earlier today to those rumor-millers.

“Facebook has no plans to charge basic users for services that they already enjoy. However, some users seem to be unconsciously wishing to pay our company to allow them to keep updating their statuses and playing FarmVille. Therefore, any accounts found with a ‘Facebook Charges’ status will begin accruing charges for their stupidity, starting immediately.”

While the new idiot charges may seem harsh, social network analysts have shown support to the new policy. “If you believe some random statement from a website from Russia that shows malware-ridden fake nude pictures of Mila Kunis and actually spread that statement, you deserve to be charged for your stupidity,” stated professional social media user Troy Ackers.
